How to identify a real 425 in a 63 Riv

    Hi,

I looked true the reference section, but I can't find an answer for this question:

How can I tell if my 63 Riv was originally equipped with the 425 engine?

    Thanks in adavnce

Look here for the 425 production code (top picture): http://www.teambuick.com/forums/view...t_engine_where. JW is the 425 code and JT is the 401 code. Then match the engine serial number (also located in top picture) to the serial number of the car located in driver side door opening. They should match for the original engine to be in the original car.

    Hi,

thanks so far, that's described in the reference section and it works with a number matching car.

But I want to know something else, ok was my fault. The question wasn't exactly enough. I want to know if there is any possibility to find out what engine was originally installed, if there is no engine or not a matching one in there?

    Thanks
    Robert

Is the owners protection plan still in the glove box or somewhere you can find it? The Protect-O-Plate is in that document and prints the original codes on the page opposite (including the engine code).

ok, that means the other way round there is no chance to find out, what engine was installed first, when you don't have the matching one in it and/or you don't have the original paper work? Right?

    Helped me, thanks!
