1946 super 8 convertible - is it that rare?

I have a serial number and want to verify what I have.

    14698066

The car was rolled shortly after purchased and the motor and tranny are gone and the windshield is crushed. All the chrome is there seats gauges hood latches blinkers and all but I am being told if its a 46 I should sell it since they are really rare and let someone who knows how to build it right restore the car or at least fix it right. Does anyone know what the Vin number can tell us?

The car has surface rust and still has some original gold?? paint. It has been outside for probably 50 years. Pretty cool looking old car though. I just stumbled on it and had never even seen one b4 pretty cool looking old car but if its super rare I dont want to trash it with my amature body repair skills. needs some fender repair, a new decklid and a new windshield. The chrome grill and most of the chrome is still shining.
Has all blinkers and trim but some trim is bent from rollover
hood looks great and the latches still shine and work smooth.
needs new wood in convertible top - gauges are sun faded seats are metal frames
still has all the electric window stuff but needs new glass

any idea what an old rolling chasis (needs lots of repair) like this might sell for?

If you eliminate the 1, 4698066, you have a number which works for 1946.

most all convertibles are desirable cars to restore. Buicks, are rated highly, and they were also among the top sellers of converts. The amount of work needed will tell the tale, and if its savable at all either get a pro to fix it or sell it to someone who can.
