Hello everyone. I just purchased a 1965 Riviera. I am trying to find out if it is a 401 or a 425. Where can I look for the casting #'s? I thought it was a 401 but when I went to replace the starter the folks down at the local NAPA said that I had a starter for a 425. How can I know for sure what I have under the hood. Thanx

is the starter on the driver's side? - I think the starter will fit either the 425 or the 401.
I was surprised the starter from the 300 fit the 455 - least I think it was from/for the 300, I lost the box. I ordered a starter for the 300, will see if they are both the same when it gets here.
let us know what you find
64 Wildcat, 445
64 Lesabre, 310
455, in progress
401-425 starters are the same, just get the year right. 64-66 starters are different than 63-earlier due to the different transmissions used.
