putting an old nailhead in a 86 regal

I am new into the "new" buicks. My son just drug an 86 regal home and we are looking at putting one of my old nailheads(364 or 401) in it to replace the blown up 305. Has anyone done this? Any tips on the new "project"! Thanks

i put a small block in a 84 regal. One problem i see with the nail in the regal is going to be your mounts. Nailhead mounts are on the front edge of the block so when you sit it in the regal you will either have to cutout the firewall witch will move the mounts on top of the crossmember. The advantage of this will be much improved handleing. The other option is to build mounts to hang off of the fron of the crossmember to move the engine further forward and probally be easier. I say do it and post pics. I have never seen that done before and i bet the torque in the regal would be a blast to drive.

I've heard of this swap just once. A fellow up in PA has one, I think the biggest problem was the exhaust manifold situation, as in no easy bolt in for it, had to fab something up. A 455 or 350 would be easier!
