    what makes more power? 68 430 heads or 73 455 heads?....The heads would go on a 1973 455..

68 430 heads have a smaller combustion chamber, higher ratio rockers and there's a good possibility that they will be "big port" castings.

all of which means, the 430 should make more power. the only advantage that the 455 heads might have would be if it was fitted with Stage 1 size valves. however, Stage 1 valves can be fitted onto the 430 heads if you cut the valve seats, so that's not really much of an advantage.

there are several niggling little compatibility issues which can be worked around fairly easily, but you need to be aware of them.
    - you will have to oil the rockers through the pushrods with the 455 block
    - you will need to use "adapter" pushrods with one end a different size than the other
    - you will need to get head gaskets which block off the extra coolant holes in the 455 block, etc

if you call www.TAPerformance.com, they should be able to hook you up with everything you need.
