    DEAD 90 Century 2.5 HELP!!!!!!!!!

    Hi All,
I have a 90 Buick century with a 2.5 Liter 4 cylinder engine... it starts VERY hard it might run any where from 5 minuntes to 2 hours but eventually dies. Now I have replaced:

    Injector
    Fuel regulator
    TPS
    Ignition module
    ECM
    Crank trigger

And last year I replaced the alternator and the cat. I am at wits end with this thing!!! Please HELP!! If I can’t get this thing running then I will have to get a new car and I do NOT want payments!! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    try this

fuel filter, and have the fuel pressure checked. it might also be crud in the fuel tank stopping fuel flow.

    Bill,
I know most car guys dont want to hear this but ........ the money you have wasted on un-needed parts would have easily paid for at least an hours worth of diagnostic time at a good repair shop. Then once the real problem was found, you could either pay them to finish the repair or do it yourself. You would be way ahead of the game ($$$$$$) this way.

I have worked on my own cars for close to 40 years now, but with the new cars if you are not willing to buy a scanner and proper service information, you will be a lot better off letting someone fix it who has the correct tools to do so.

    Just my opinion,

I have a scanner and it is NOT putting out any codes... I have been rebuilding cars (engines) for over 20 yrs and I have seen NOTHING like this!!! everything is working fine!! I have talked to many people around nashville and NO one is willing to touch it they all say that I have done everything that they would've done...

    Bill,
Obviously somthing is not working fine if the car is not running right.

And a scanner tells you a lot more than codes. It will tell you if the ecm is getting a proper rpm signal, if the engine is lean or rich, map sensor readings, etc etc etc. You will probably have to put it in "record mode" and take it with you while driving so that you can record all the readings when the problem occurs. This is the type of troubleshooting it is going to take to fix it. It could be a loose or almost broken wire somewhere. Could be a fuel pump starting to fail. Could be a fuel pump relay starting to fail.

that means taking it to a dealer and at $100 hr I would end up paying a bill more than the car is worth
