Thread: Fan question

    Fan question

Am mocking up motor and trans mounts to install 425 dual quad motor in a '32 3 window and need to install a fan on the motor. At local wrecking yard I found both 4 and 6 six blade Buick fans, 6 blade from a Riveria w/ ac., no clutch on either unit. This is my first experience using a nailhead and am not sure which or what fan would be best. Clutch or not, 4 or 6 blade, use a spacer? Thanks for any help, Brad

fan selection would be determined by how much air flow you need to keep it cool.
Clutch fans work very well, I have a 80's setup from a V6 regal and fan from a Caddy.
For a rod, a more simple look would be nice. There were fixed 7 blade fans used during the 60's that work fairly well. Either use a fan shroud, or a spacer to get the fan close to the rad for best cooling.
