Exclamation 1990 Buick Skylark rough idle

    Hello everybody,

I'm new to this forum. I have a 1990 Skylark with a 2.5L Tech 4. My problem is, that it has been idleing roughly for months now. I have just recently added some STP fuel injector cleaner, in the hopes that it will sort out my problem. However, one of my friends took a look at it and said it was a vacuum leak. I am only an amateur mechanic, so have no idea where this leak is. He said there was a hose going from the engine to the brake booster, but I am not sure and don't just want to go pulling hoses. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

    rough idle/vaccume hoses

Good Idea to not go around pulling hoses. It usually causes things to break.

    Hmm hows the brakes?
Can you hear the vaccume leak or is it a supposed diagnosis your friend had.

If ya know someone who has one you could use a "wisper tool"to listen for any air or vaccume leak.

If not a vacume leak, the most common checklists I have run across here is.
    air filter,fuel filter,tuneup..sparkplugs/wires/cap.if its a rotary type'.pvc.
Carbon build up in the the throttle body.
more expensive stuff...fuel air mixer valve, electronic ignition components, cam sensor, cranksensor, sensor, sensor, all kinds of stuff.

Thank you, bjm. I replaced the vacuum hose from the engine to the brake booster and it helped a lot. I'll take a look at the other stuff you suggested. This is going to be fun.....

No problem glad to be of help of some sorts lol to some one finally lol.
If the booster vacume hose helped I would concider checking other
vaccume hoses for cracks, dryrot. Please be careful removeing vaccume hoses.some parts can be expensive "for what they are" to replace.
