If you can take a picture of the linkage on the drivers side & the carb. number it would make it ahellof lot easier. The carb. number is located on the right side of the carb. below the right front hold-down bolt & will have an "S" at the end.

Okay Guys I need some advice: I have a 1963 LeSabre ragtop with a 401 thyat has a CARTER AFB. Can anyone tell me if these were standard or optional carbs on these engines?

The '63 Chassis Service Manual shows that the 401 4bbl was a "power pack" option on '63 model 4400's and that the carb number was 3502. Hope this helps.

my 64 Wildcat 445 has original carb = carter afb. my understanding is that it is the same as the elderbrock 650. I just rebuilt the carter after putting 40K miles on the unopened stock engine. I have to do a road trip to check out the mpg. I still has less than 95K miles onnit.

Is the engine production code JT? If so, the four barrel was OE for this engine. You can also check to see if the engine serial number is the same as your VIN; if so, this is the original engine in the car. Look at this link to find where the numbers are stamped (not cast) on your block.
