I have a 38 Buick. The hole behind the spark plug cover is for the temp sensor. Mine has the oil line for the gauge under the distributor, as long that you still have the oil line going to the head up front.
Is there a more modern replacement for the old fuel pump? I won't be needing the vacuum pump section. Hoping to find something more available. If not, any recommendations where to have the old one rebuilt? I guess I could go with an electric one.
Also, while getting the engine ready for first fire, I was filling it with water and discovered water running out from behind the sparkplug cover. Seems there's a hole above the last plug. Temp sensor? That's my guess. And, there is a hole just under the distributor with the remnants of a line spitting oil. Oil pressure gauge connection? Again, that's my guess. But I'd rather not be guessing. We plugged them and went on with it.
