On a 1952 special do the washers under the inside valve springs belong there? I was told they do not by the machine shop that did the cylinder head, so he did not install them????

I believe that someone discovered the spring tension was not factory specs, and added the washers for greater spring tension.
See the 52 manual in Buick Team Library for specifications.
