New Buick time

Here she is. I picked her up on Saturday. Renting a truck, trailer and 1000 miles later she is home. The body looks great, the floors are....well they're Buick floor boards.....on to the pics

1950 Buick Riviera 2 door, 3 speed manual and I'm not sure what the motor is yet.

Started tearing her apart today, can't wait to really start going on her.

Looks great! Should make a real nice cruiser. I would love to have something like that for a project in my yard

I don't mind telling.

I have been scouring Ebay looking for a replacement body for my 4 door. The guy who had the car (my 4 door) before me chopped the roof off and pretty much didn’t brace anything so it made the body useless. I had been looking on ebay for about a year or so and one night I stumbled across this car. I knew what it was and figured so did a lot of other people I put it in my watched items so I could it to see how high it went. Well the auction ended on a Sunday night, I was out in the garage working and remembered the auction so I ran in to check it. I caught the last five minutes of it. I was surprised no one was bidding so at the last minute I threw a bid in of $1,200 thinking that I was going to be outbid 3 or 4 x's over. Well the auction ran its course and only one other person threw a bid in for $1,125, so I got the car for $1,126. I was freaking amazed, I couldn't find a rusted out 4 door body in the last year for under $2,500.

The Saturday after the auction ended I drove the 500 miles to pick it up. The car was very complete, it had everything. the body is in awesome condition, the guy who had it sprayed the car with an epoxy primer and let it sit for 5 years while he was trying to finish other projects.

As with most Buicks, I'm replacing the floors now. He said the engine ran when he parked it but I haven’t had time to mess with it to see.

There are still some decent deals out there....even on Ebay.

Great car man...will make a fun project. Just got my floor pans from Classic Fabrications myself but have been working on upolstery all month because it's been raining so much.

I was going to order from Classic but my buddy has a bead roller so we thought we would give it a try first.

I bought 2 5x10 sheets of 18 gauge for $120, classic wanted $940 for what I needed, so we will see what happens.

I am not talking bad about Classic though, I did order one of their panels one time and they are very nicely made, I just wanted to see if I could do it myself.

I might have to farm out my upolstery though, I haven't seen a sewing machine in about 15 years.

I'm farming out the seat covers...way too much work. Got a headliner from CARS, carpet from Kanter, but everything else I'm doing on my own. It's not that hard, stuff like the seat aprons and package shelf you can do in under an hour. Door panels are a little harder because my sewing machine is fussy about vinyl.
Would love to see pics of your floor pan progress!

I'v only worked on it for a day and it started with the trunk. I'm cutting the trunk out of my 4 door to replace the one in the 2 door.

In the pics I was only going to do the bottom and make the whole trunk pan flat.

This is what my trunk's looking like...not as much rot as yours but towards the rear the metal was completely toast, so I had a guy with a '52 Roadmaster parts car on eBay cut this complete trunk rear off to replace it.
