    Real? Riv GS

    I have been looking at a very nice 67 Riv GS. How can I tell for sure if it really is a GS?

    You will need to find the option codes.
    The code is A9 as found here:

    Not to sound dumb but do the option codes appear somewhere on the car?

    they are on the body tag attached to the cowl under the hood.

    Thanks for your help, I got the info off the cowl tag but I can't tie all these numbers back to codes. I do see that this is a 1967 Riviera that was gold. That is all I can understand. I am still trying to verify that this is a real GS.

    Nothing on the Fisher Plate IDs it as a Riviera GS.
    It only states you have a really nice Riviera.
    By the numbers it says:
    1967 Riviera Body built at the Euclid. OH. plant with a Fisher Body sequence number 130277.
    It was built with a Black Vinyl Bucket Seats with Custom Trim interior,
    a Riviera Gold exterior with a Black Vinyl top.
    Also built with Tinted windows, Power windows, Power Seats ( Left Bucket only), Power trunk release,
    Air Conditioning, Console, Door Edge Guards,
    Outside Remote control Mirror and possibly a luggage compartment Lamp.

    VIN:
    4 = Buick Motor Division
    94 = Riviera Platform
    87 = 2Dr HT
    7 = 1967
    H = Buick Assembly Plant , Flint,MI.
    921479 = Vehicle Identification Sequence Number.

    The "A9" option code would appear on the Vehicle's Build sheet.
    The 67 Riviera GS can be ID by the 430 V8 with a RED star wars air
    cleaner. The fender GS emblems appear in a "block letter" style instead
    of script. And if I remember it should be the 1st year for front disc brakes.
    Well thats all I know..................

    Once again, Nice Car

    Based on that info, trust me, you have a real GS.
    If you really want to get ****, you can pull the speedo gear and see if its a 43 tooth. I know pulling the gear isn't exactly welcomed especially when the car is not yours yet. Regardless thats a real clincher few cloners know about. Only the GS in 1967 had the 43 tooth because the GS option included Wide Oval tires and 3.42 axle of which is the only combination the 43 tooth gear was used on the Riv. The wide Oval tires were standard with the GS and NOT available as an option on non-GS models. But again, its not necessary.

    Nicely optioned. Sounds like a nice car. I'd like to see pics.

    Now that is a fabulous bit of trivia. I wish I had a bunch of that to compile for a quiz or whatever.
