Probably a tired and leaky diaphragm. They often fail when this happens, so its surprising yours still runs.
I have a '56 Roadmaster with a 322 ci Nailhead. It has the dual action (vacuum/fuel) fuel pump. It is squirting fuel out of a "weep-hole" in the body of the pump. I have a rebuild kit for it, but was hoping to find out exactly what the problem was before I took drastic measures. If anyone knows anything about these and can think of what might have happened... I'd appreciate any info...

So, it looks like the rebuild kit will come in handy today... thanks for responding so quickly
If it is squirting fuel out of a "weep-hole" in the body of the pump, it might also be getting fuel into the oil. Check that and don't run it any more with that slobbering pump.
