Looking to Upgrade to a newer Automatic Tranny

Ok..... I am looking to install a newer model automatic transmission in my 1955 Buick Special..... right now it has a 3 speed on the column with the original undercarriage running gear - torque tube, brakes, rear axle, etc.....

Has anyone done the conversion and if so what did you use for a transmission, rear axle, driveshaft etc.........

I am also looking for information on dual exhaust, as I want to overhaul the engine and put in a tri-power manifold with the stromberg bolt pattern.....
