I read in another post that 79' springs will fit under the rear

According to the Hollander's Interchange manual, front springs from 1950-1953 Buicks will interchange. Be aware that although the front springs are interchangable, the load rares are different from standard shift cars to Dynaflow equipped cars.

In the rear, the following Buick springs will interchange:
-'50-'53 All (except Station Wagon & convertible models)

    - '54 Special & Century (except station wagon & convertible)

-'55 Special & Century (except Riviera & station wagon)

    -'55-'58 Super & Roadmaster (except 4 door)

-'56-'58 Special & Century (except station wagon)

    -Oldsmobile - '61-'63 Model 88 & 98 2 door sedan (except station wagon)

Do you have any information on ride heights obtained using the different interchanges?

sorry about my earlier post, left out what make and model : 79' El Camino rear springs are supposed to be a 4" inch drop.

I just put the '79 El Camino springs in my '52 Super. Rear ride height is now 7" from the ground to the lowest point on the rocker just in front of the rear wheel opening. It only took about 30 minutes to do. Cheap and fast. I think it looks great.

What did you do for the front? And what size tires are you running? How's the ride with the El Camino springs?

    Thanks!

I was the one who mentioned the '79 springs. I chopped the top of my front coils. Start with 1/2 to 1 turn for a start. I end up with 1 1/2 coils cut. but I also chopped the top pigtail of the El camino springs. It rides like a lowered car. Good shocks are the key to a nice ride...
