    1946 Roadmaster-How to start?

Hi to all. I was given a 1946 Buick Roadmaster a couple of years ago. The car was driven to my house and dropped off. The guy that gave me the car has moved out of state, and I have no way of getting in touch with him. I have been looking at the car, and would like to get it running. I charged the batt. but can't find a starter button. The key is only ON, or OFF. I thought there would be a starter button somewhere on the floorboard, but can't find anything. Was wondering if someone could help with this problem.

    Thanks, Ken.

To actuate the starter, press the accelerator to the floor.

If those switches work right they're fine, but sitting for a long time may make them malfunction. They have several safetys included to prevent one from engaging the starter motor while the engine is running, but until you check the switch and make sure it's working properly, I think I would bypass that switch with a temporary button. Cheap insurance!

Thanks, I was thinking of hooking up a remote starter button just to see if it cranks. I have been tracing wires while charging the batt. actually a pleasure to work on. Am going to give her a shot shortly.

After further inspection I have decided not to even try to start the Roadmaster. The main harness is super bad. 90% of the insulation is missing, broken and corroded wires. I guess the thing to do is replace the harness, or do a bunch of cutting and splicing. So I am going to put it on hold for awhile.
May be interested in a trade or sale if anyone is interested.
    Thanks for all the help.
