Sounds like a cool idea. You may want to search around for a 4 speed truck bellhousing from a late 40's early 50's F2-f4 Ford truck. Its actually a 3-speed trans with a granny gear. We use this bellhousing to mate a t5 to a ford flathead motor. Offenhauser sells a bellhousing to mate a ford tranny to a 53-56 Nailhead. You should be able to modify this bellhousing to fit a straight 8 and then mate the t-5 with the Ford truck front shroud and mate it to the Offenhauser housing. Be careful of which T5 you get, the early to mid 80's had a different bolt pattern than the late 80's and early 90's. Plus, I think after 89-90 the T-5 had a electronic speedo hookup.
