    buickdrive line questions ?

    Ok so i just got my 66 buick , and i have a few questions . 1 >where can i get gear sets and posi units for the 9-3/8 rearend .2> whats trans did these cars use .

    There are no aftermarket gearsets. Unless you find a rare NOS set used is your only choice. There is something peculiar to a 66 rears also. 67-70 sets are the same and 71-76 sets are the same.


    I recall they were ST (super turbine) or Turbo -Hydra-Matic 400 trans.

    Hi, in 67' (same gen as 66') there were 5 trans available but depends on your engine / model / options.
    - 3speed+R column
    - 3speed+R floor (GS)
    - 4speed+R floor (GS)
    All three manuals.
    - 2speed+R ('ST300')
    - 3speed+R ('ST400')
    Both auto/switch-pitch, column or floor following options I believe...

    He has a Riviera which unlike yours is a 9000 series E body. So he has an auto trans and it is a 400. There were no other options like for your A body.

    the 400 is a popular transmission with alot of aftermarket supports , but the rear end is a whole other problem . i thought about swapping the rear from a 67 impala , but it wont work , any ideas ?

    Why would you want to change the rear?
