    bought Bellhousing and 4 Speed Muncie 455 now not sure if its for a 455

    looking for help
    I bought Bellhousing and 4 Speed for the 455 in my 1970 skylark convertible im building now not sure if its for a 455 as i saw a bell housing on ebay and it looks diferent, does anybody know how to desifer the # on the bellhousing and 4 spd ?and what year and mdl there from. housing has 9785581 stamped on it and 4 spd has 3885010 on gear section and 3978764 gm on tail shaft thanks alfredo.

    Just to give you a start a 70 Buick Muncie still had the 10 spline input shaft.

    9785581 = 1968-72 Buick 350, 400 and 455.

    A correct 70 GS 455 Muncie will have the TCS switch in the driver's side with the terminals exposed.

    Your trans appears to have different year parts:

    thanks for the help you really put me at ease
    i bought the whole 4 spd set up right down to the sterring column
    and was told it was out of a 71 gs so this is good news as im not goin to start on it for a couple of months and the doubt was killing me

    A 1971 input shaft should be a 26 spline count.

    saw some bell housing on some car parts store online (not on ebay) and actually had a same problem as this one...I checked the links and the article worked on me...thanks for posting!
