Talking Please help me understand what I have

Please help me understand what I have. I would like to know if I really have the original 322 nailhead in my 1954 Buick Century and what the body tag means but I am having a hard time deciphering them. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you looked through the information in the reference section? Look in Years too.

If you post the data of your body tag, we can help you.

A look at this thread might be interesting, too:

I started digging through the reference section and that is what prompted me to make the post. Where can I find y body tage? I was looking for it last night but did not find it.

As described at the top of this page:

    http://www.teambuick.com/reference/y...4/54_body.html

The correct numbers for engine identification can be found here:

I am either looking in the wrong spot for the body tag or it is missing. Can somebody share a picture of where their body tag is?

    The frame tag says:
    BUICK
    6 A1165773

The number printed on both sides of my engine block is 1165649-9. That does not seem to correspond to anything on http://www.teambuick.com/forums/view...t_engine_53-58 but it looks like other V-8 322s that I have seen pictures of.

Pictures of the frame tag and # on the engine are here http://picasaweb.google.com/mjsandbe...zh1YKP1PeswgE#

Once again thanks for the help and your patience, this is all new to me.

Before you try to use the numbers, you need to have the correct ones:

    http://www.teambuick.com/forums/view...t_engine_where

The body plate should be on top or on the right side of the cowl under the hood.

Your frame number should be the same as the one on the door post and is the vin. The breakdown is in the reference/years/55/vin

The engine S/N is stamped in 1/4 inch numbers on the left side of the block deck.

    Identification

Looking at the tag, you have a 1954 Buick Century Tourback Sedan model 61. E-mail me at richardcrowecharter.net and I will sent them to you directly, they are in Microsoft XPS Document writer (xps) format. I hope this helps you out.
