1956 open driveline question?

i know someone on here has done a ford 9 inch so best place i thought would be to ask here,
i was told a astrovan is the right width
but anyways what is the axle flange to axle flange width? or better yet what year and model car would fit,
i know lots of welding is involved but the car is torn apart and i wanna make this into a very good driver

I used a later Mustang 8.8 rear with 3.55 gears in my Buick Wagon and the width was perfect.
