I just had mine out. It was not quite as difficult as I was expecting. If I recall correctly, do the following to remove the unit:
I took off my washer reservior to get more room.
Remove the vacuum lines from the master cylinder.
Take off the fluid reservoir. There are two bolts holding it on at the base.
Remove the brake light wires. The clip kind of slides off sideways.
Remove the brake line from the end of the master cylinder.
From inisde the car, remove the brake pedal.
Remove the screws holding the stiff rubber plate that is above the carpet.
Pull the rubber plate up and pull the carpet back.
Remove about a dozen screws holding the floor pan plate that the master cylinder is bolted to.
Pull the master cylinder out from inside the car with the floor pan plate still attached.
It sounds harder that is really is. Just a little time consuming.
Now, let us know how the rebuild goes. I was going to do mine, but put it off for another day.
