Rear window Leakage/ Seal? 1971 Buick 350 Gran Sport, 2DR
These body's were pretty much the same, in the early 70's such as Chevelle, Pontiac. Etc
My problem is my rear window was leaking. This turned out to be a real common problem and a bad engineering design. Water sits there and rusts and eventually leaks to the trunk, trunk wells and rear quarter panel. So I have removed the rear window. I am presently cleaning all the remaining rubber on the window and body and silicone (Rear window) Lip. I bought new clips from Napa for the molding as most are rusted.
It looks like there was an original seal gasket that went around the window and mated up to the body. Could it have been one piece seal? Is there such a thing one could buy/ pre-formed for the width of the window? Is a one piece rear seal even put into these types of windows and these common @ the times body lips?
Suggestions?
Thanks.
Scott
Update: Rear window is re-sealed.
Front window/ w antenna built in changed out and re-sealed, Lasted ~ 12 Years. Problem has been magnified the fact that I'm in a different/ more rainy humid climate w/ the carr, Tennessee vs/ Sa Jose, Ca.
All the best,
Scott
