1971 Gran Sport GS 350 Rebuild and Restoration
September 26th 2008.
Well, Just rebuilt my original 1971 GS 350 motor, 4BBL Got 225k miles out of it for over thirty-five years.
It's running like a champ. I love this car. I love driving it! Should I call her Christine? (Steven Spielberg) LOL
Now it's time for some body work, Not much just some dings and bumps.
However the rear 1/4 panel has some cancer @ the lowest part. This has been caused by leaks on the lower rim of the rear window. Just popped the rear window out and indeed there is pinholes and rust. The pinholes in the rear window have been resealed by a professional glass service. The front windshield has been replaced and re-sealed.
The original plastic grill made for only this year 1971 is in the garage MOTHBALLED and replaced w/ a pot metal type/ same grid pattern I bought on EBAY. Also four new tires, like floating down the highway! No lie. Oct 2008.
Getting her ready for some auto body work.
Then a good paint job. Probably, Spring 2009.
All that needs after that is upholstery redone.
Bucket seats, Back seat.
Headliner was done in Fremont, California 1995.
Thanks to Team Buick for allowing me the priviledge to post here.,
