    Front brake cylinders 50 buick

What are the numbers for the front brake cylinders for a 50 Buick? I know when I replaced my rear ones I was able to cross over the old number and use a 67 Le Saber I believe. I don’t have the front part numbers so I don’t know what to cross it over with.

    Thanks

    brake cylinders

I don't know the numbers but I do know that auto zone can get them. The drivers side is $35 and the passsenger is $45. I have no idea why one is more money than the other. The casting on both of them are the same but are milled different to accept a hose on the rear side instead of a brake line. good luck Joe

For front wheels, Master Chassis parts book for group 4.665 lists:

    1942-1956
    5456322 (R)
    5456323 (L)

Parts interchange book lists 1942-1957 Buick and 1942-1956 Cadillac as the same:

    FD18292
    FD18293

    FD7334

    5450646
    5450647

    25142
    25143

    Not sure that helps any.

My fiancee spoke to a friend of hers who has a brake shop about my cylinders (she's into cars as well, has a 64 Thunderbird) and he told her that the same wheel cylinder off a 76-95 full size Bronco would fit the Buick

Went to Napa at lunch and asked for 5456322 (R) (original number), $48 and needed to be ordered, asked for a 76 full size Bronco cylinder, in stock $8.39.

    Guess what one I bought..........

I think a lot of us just buy parts from places that specialize in our cars and dont really look around too much. There are parts that are only for our car sure, but bearings, brake parts and other stuff are out there and much cheaper as well, it only takes a little digging.

    Thumbs up

    Thanks for the valued information.
I hope the wheel cylinders are a match.
Let us know how everything works out.

    Update

Well I tried to put the Bronco cylinders on and ran into a problem, they only accept a hardline (they were actually rear cylinders). So some more research by the brake shop and they came up with a 74-75 Maveric cylinder. The only issue is the Buick soft brake lines do not work with the cylinder so you have to buy Maveric soft brake lines and you are good to go.

Total cost for cylinders and lines = $50.00

Now if I could only find an easy replacement for a master cylinder......
