what is the wheel base on your car.

That is the most important consideration

I was thinking something similar for my '55. Seems like it would be an awful lot of work however.

The ideal size for you buick which has a 122 w/b is a boat tail riv which was made only for 3 years 1971-1973.

That vehicle has all the ammonites.Along with a 455. which is a torque monster and open drive train.

But who would have the heart to destroy one!?! Those boat tails are getting hard.

Rusted out Boat tails that will be parted out and the balance crushed are seen quite often. Some cars are too far gone to be economically saved. Inevitably they will be stripped of some parts to save another.

I wouldn't even think to consider a Boat tail that is salvageable.
But as Flynbuick stated it you can find on where the frame and drive train can be salvaged, it would be well worth you while.

Some one I know used a Boaltail frame and drive train on a 48 Roadmaster Convertible with outstanding results and performance. The car is a real jewel.

What's the width of the frame and will it fit under a 52 Special 2 door without major mods to the floor pan?
