1963 Riviera engine swap help needed.

I have a 1963 buick riviera. THis website said it came originally with a V8. currently nothing under the hood . Need some help in what i may fit in there without alot of modifications. I do have a 1983 pontiac bonneville with a V6 in it. And an option to buy a 85 camaro with a V8, would any of them swap in.

You need a 1959 -63 Buick 401 or a 1963 Buick 425. The trans you have is a Buick dynaflow which ened its production that year.


It is a heavy car and you need a high torque engine. A 6 is not going to cut it.


If you want to change to an ST 400 trans which I would, you need a 1964-66 Buick 401 or 425.

how about a REBUILT CHEVY 283 WITH AUTOMATIC TRAN or Has a 429 out of a 1973 car.

Why don't you get a correct Buick engine so all you accessories will hook up, the battery and alternator, AC compressor and starter will be in the correct position, etc? Plus, it may be worth something in the end rather than being an oddball.




(Yes --you could even put a Mazda rotary engine in the car.)
