    Engine identification

    I have a 1956 super Buick with a bad CAM and none of the code from this site match what is on my block pretty sure it is a nail head but which one is the big ? would really like to get it fixed, love this old car. the code on the side of my block is I9469845 if anyone can help that would be a great help. thanks Charity

    you've got an easy one. if we take it as given that it has the original engine, it has a 322ci. there were no other displacements available from Buick that year:

    you can somewhat verify this by measuring between the bolt holes on the intake, see below the casting #s here:

    be careful though, the 264 and 322 have the same bolt spacing and use the same intake castings. so that isn't fool proof.
