back in the 450 posting this same issue was addressed with the 263 in a 50 super. A lot of good answers were offered.
Here's the woe is me.A month or so ago I asked about whether a 322 would fit in my 40 Super.Luckily I was advised no,but I did get a 263.5 from a 53 Special. My old engine got so angry it overheated and seized.(never rely on 68 year old guages)Anyway I installed it in my car and after some modifications it's in.Comes the problem.Today the temp guage soars past 230 and I shut it down quickly.I had the rad rebuilt changed the thermostat etc.The engine seems to rev unusually fast.Could this condition be caused by timing? One of the differences was the carb which seems to be leaking.I am going to rebuild it , but would it contribute to that heat situation ? All hints and advice would be very much appreciated.
thanks,Ray

Ray maybe there is several ways to post questions to this team buick site, I don't know. I go to straight eight [archives]. Your question is #459, it is the last one on the list. They start at #1 back in 2003 and go right on to today.
