Unhappy 1951 Buick Custom Canadian Model

    Hi Group.
I own a 1951 Buick "Custom" (2-Dr Ht), with the engine missing. I have the front clip right off the vehicle and cannot find the serial numnber anywhere on the front frame area in front of the firewall.

Where is the serial number located on the body?

Is there a source for decoding Canadian numbers?
    Thanks
    Willie

It should be on the top of the frame behind the steering box near the master cylinder. You may not have enough of the clip to have the serial number.

On the body, it is on a plate on the drivers side door pillar. It is removed with two philips screws. If you find two holes about 2" apart, that is probably where it was.

    Hi Willie,

I have a 52 Canadian Buick and have experienced trouble finding a source for decoding Canadian VINs...

    Good luck..

    1951 Buick Custom Canadian Model

Thanks for the info. I'll check that frame again. How big a stamping is it? Easy to find, large numbers? I couldn't see it the first time.

Do we need a Canadian Web site, with Canadian info on it?
    Thanks Again

The numbers are good size, but are individually hand stamped. They are not easy to spot.

I don't know if there is any diffence in decoding for Canadian models.
