57 Special steering gear box?

I have a 57 that is equiped with power steering. Of course the power steering system is in need of a complete rebuild. I was thinking about installing a manual steering gear box (also 57 special), in place of the power steering gear box. Looks like it would be an easy change out. Is there anything I should be concerned about or something that may not work if I was to change out my steering gear box?

Are you sure you want manual steering??? On the highway fine, but just tooling around gets old kinda fast. What's wrong with your box??? There are rebuilders out there who can do whatever is nec. Or, if you have the abilities you can do it yourself. LARS comes to mind as an excellent shop with an excellent rep.

Do you know how much a power steering rebuild would cost and also where could I get this done?

It might be the place the Tom is referring to. I have a '57 Special with manual steering and this winter it is getting converted to power steering. Like Tom says, the manual steering gets old fast.
