    98 Riv stuttering?

New guy here....got a '98 Riv that just started struggling under acceleration (low and high speed), but idles fine. Service engine light came on for one day, but went off. No codes stored in OBD-II but problem persists. Any suggestions for common problems? Fuel filter, MAF sensor, O2 sensor? Hate to start throwing darts if you guys already have experience with similar symptoms! Thanks in advance, Mike

With no codes in the sys. I would look at sparkplugs and plug wires ( carbon tracking & be sure to use A/C plugs ) first . The OBD2 sys. sometimes does not count a cyl. miss-fire until 10 to 12 have happened in order to set check eng. light for a mis-fire code ( 98' and earlier ) . Welcome to the site and good luck.

Just realized (months later) that I never followed-up on this...sorry about that! I proceeded to change the plugs, wires, and fuel filter and she's back to high performance. Thanks for the advice - hope it helps someone else with similar symptoms. Thanks again! Mike
