    Fireball

Looking at a couple different articles, I'm a little confused. Which Buick engines are referred to as the "Fireball."

    Thanks.

The (FIREBALL dynaflash eight) name was first used on the 1941 models. Buick changed from flat top pistons to domed pistons in 1938 and called it the Dynaflash 8. The fireball piston was supposed to be a improved design over the original domed piston of 1938. Buick also came out with compound carburetion in 1941 and a claimed 165 horsepower on the 320 inch motor.

Does the 263 Straight 8 in my '53 Special have any specific name similar to the Fireball?

The 53 special was still called Fireball and was rated at 130 hp. I got this information from the book "Seventy years of Buick" by George H Dammann this book covers 1903 to 1973 models.
