Looking for more information on this 66 G S

I have been researching this 1966 Buick Skylark Gran Sport that I have been asking questions about . The engine serial number matches the the VIN and the body numbers ,but has no engine code stamped on the deck next to the other numbers and was painted Buick blue grean at the factory . The1364705 casting number is showing a 401/425 block . I have heard of other 66 GS engines factory painted blue grean but very few . It also came with dual 4v carbs , aluminum fined valve covers and tunes to 425 specs. The car has less than 75000 miles on it . Untill five years ago it sat in a barn since the early eighties .
Does any one know anything about Buick producing such Gran Sports or what numbers to look for or any other information I can get ?

The 66 GS Skylark engines were painted red from the factory. Yours could have been a dealer replacement engine, or it may have been out and re-painted at one point. The dealer would stamp the vin or part of the vin on replacement engines. The factory engines had the last eight positions of the vin on the driver-side valley pan rail. The complete vin was not stamped on engines in 66.

    66 Gs

Although saying never is never a good idea with Buicks from the '60's, getting a dual quad setup from the factory would have been very problematic and the chances of getting that done are slim and none. I know some people say they have one from the factory, but unless you walked down the chassis line as the engines were being put in and talked the hourly guy into sticking a 425 2x4 engine onto an A-body chassis (again, slim & none), it never happened (oops, there's that never). I was a GMI student co-oping at Buick in '66 and my dad was the Superintendent of the Engine Plant. I had a 1966 Skylark GS built in September and I was not able to get a 425 engine in it let alone one with a 2x4. I can tell you, if anyone could get it done, I could and I couldn't.

I do not think I have ever seen a 2 four GS documented either. Lots of cars had these added on. If real it must be a test bed car and not a production car. Denny Manner may remember if one was ever used for this purpose in 66. The valve covers you mention suggest it is an add on.
