    Smile alt. conversion on older Buicks with gas pedal start.

    FYI: There is a company in Ca. thats called Mad enterprises that makes a kit to convert generator to alternater and keep the gas pedal start. Coast $28.00. This kit is very detailed

    Did you get a part number? I looked on their website http://www.madelectrical.com/ but couldn't tell which kit it was. Did you do the conversion? If so what kind of car/engine do you have and which alternator did you use and what did you do about brackets?

    I am doing the kit now. Look for the kit with the diode, this will let the current run only one way. If this is not installed you can't shut the engine off. Mad has 2 kits one you buy the diode from Radio shake the other is complete with install info. Kit number is ALT-1 this kit is complete.Mad also recomends changing to a volt meter. I am leaving the amp guage, so dash looks factory. I am also adding after market A/C and heat Hot Rod Air. It's a lot of work to remove all the add ons the factory installed. i hope this helps you out. Mad also has many earlier reports on alt converions.
