dashboard color

Hi !
i have a question regarding paint
if i will do mandarin red exterior paint what will be the correct
dashboard red color ???
anybody know ??
Moreover i need to find correct paint samples in order to reproduce it here...
any idea ??

Dear ponmarcn,

actually, there are not too many red tones to choose from. There was only "Claret Red Poly" which is a Burgundy dark red and "Seminole Red" a very flashy color.

You may find original paint chips on ebay once and a while. I bought a set too, but the guy who did the "Tahiti Coral" paintjob on my car here in Germany did not need it, as he was able to still buy this color directly from the original manufacturer... You will find the respective order codes on the above link, too.

For some reason, I assumed you were talking about a 1956 Buick... !?

Okay, my advice was for 1956 Buicks... otherwise I would suggest to get you a color chip chart from ebay for your model year and see what your color specialist can do with it...

sorry there i fail to say
that the car is a Skylark 1953 !!!
for me in ITALY to get info on colors is a nightmare
no references available, i bought a formula on internet
in order to reproduce the color and here they cannot use it
PPG wil not help at all
I asked to another place and BOUGHT two spray samples but they are
i think just a ridicolous fake.

really a nightmare... see out there many restored
buicks with mandarin red exterior and some kind
of red interiors, but what color ?? and where to find it...

Dear ponmarcn,

there should be at least a mixing company anywhere near you, that has a scanner and can scan the color of your dashboard and "calculate" the formula.

Another way that can be gone in parallel might be to get in touch with any major company that produces colors, find them on the internet and contact them, i.e. you could email THEM: http://www.basf-italia.it:8080/basfcms/home.jsp (there should be a contact sheet somewhere on their site)

Good luck and probably one of the other guys knows what color your dash features...

P.S. WHERE in Italy are you located ? (My sister lives on Sicilia...)
