I'd like to thank everyone who replied to my last post. I decided to pick up a 1956 322" block to replace my 54 264". It's in great shape but as I did the teardown of the 322", I found that at least 1 piston has a broken first compression ring. I assume it's a common thing since my 264" also had broken rings too also in cylinder #8.
I was wondering what size were the standard pistons in these blocks so I can order new ones. The pistons in the 56 block have STD cast into the crown so I assume they're not oversized and my micrometer reads about 3.975. I don't have the 56 shop manual yet and the 54 322" is different from the 56.
One other question I have is that will I be able to use the same sized pilot bearing from the 54 in the 56 engine? I don't have the 54 block out yet and would like to be prepared.
thanks, in advance!

technically, the bore on a 322 should be 4.000".
www.TAPerformance.com will probably be able to help you if anyone can.
