    69 Skylark rear window

I'm removing the vinyl top and taking the first steps to a new paint job.
So far I know there is only a small amount or rust
where the quarters are welded near the rear window.
I'd like to see a picture of the window channel before jumping in.
Also the technique to remove the moldings front and rear.
Even though the glass is perfect, where would i find replacement glass.
    Just in case.
    Thanks

I know of no where for the rear glass new, the front is available from just about any glass shop. The rear is tempered glass and just about impossible to break during removal or installation. The front is a different animal and will often get a crack. But I have to tell you, I would plan on using a new windshield. There is nothing quite like looking out thru a crystal clear brand new windshield over a newly painted hood.

Go to your local parts store and ask for a GM w/s trim removal tool, they should have one. Slip it under the mldg and slide it along until you feel the clip, slip it behind the clip and twist the mldg should pop up. Then continue along releasing all the clips. Sometimes there might be a little sealer holding the mldg as well. Get some piano wire to cut the glass out with. Have a friend help as well. You should be able to push the wire under the glass, have your friend inside the car to pull the wire in while you are outside the car, with a sawing motion work the wire back and forth around the glass to cut it out. It should come fairly easy because these were originally put in with a butyl rubber and it cut fairly easy. Try not to hit the glass with the wire if at all possible. Good luck and Happy Holidays, Bill
