55 heat control valve

Hi there, I've got a '55 model 43 and I've just renewed all the heater hoses. On the control valve is a little copper wire. Does anyone know where it's supposed to be attached? It's been loose since I've got the car. Any suggestions gratefully accepted!

On my 56 they had a update that put it in the big heater hose location right by it. I think it kept the temp. more consistant that way. Good luck, Bill
