I know that many Pontiac Fieros with the 2.5 liter four have been converted to small-block Chevy using the original transaxle. My question - will a small-block bolt to the automatic transaxle in my 1992 Buick Century? I realize that this woulld be a tricky swap, and that a 4.9 Caddy would be easier, but I would prefer the simplicity of a nice 327 or 350.
Can anyone help?
you can make it happen..but your CV joints....will hate you. i wanted to do something similar in my 1990 century (my first car) but became so overwelmed with the magnitude of the job, i gave up and bought a riviera and went to town on the 3.8.
as far as the bolt paterns on your tranny, i dont know what would match up, if i were you and was going to go through with this massive pain in my *** i would get an ENTIRE drive train from a caddy, rather then try to put a sbc or even sbb in it. Either way you got some long nights of bitterness and anger tward a seemingly harmless 92 century ahead of you, hahaha
as far as a sbc fitting im not 100% but i know chevy used the 2.5, olds did, and so on. so im sure you could get it to fit, even if you needed to get an adapter plate...just dont know how it will handle said power...the iron dude may be an unbreakable engine...but its 2 horse power dont exactly make it perfect!
good luck!
