Thread: 1966 through 1969 center caps

Unhappy 1966 through 1969 center caps

I have restored three Skylarks/Specials as drivers and always run into the same problem--on the deluxe rally wheels, was the center cap on the 66 and 67 a bulkier, ribbed style that sticks out about 2 inches and the 68-69 style the flatter style? OR, did the transition happen for the 1969 models and carry over to the 70-72 rally center cap?

I am working on a 68 and want to get it right this time. I have seen a lot of restorations and this little thing drives me crazy on restored cars!

My '68 GS has the ribbed style.

    68-72 Center cap depth

Good to know. I think old stock might have been used on some 1969's because I have seen both. I DO know that the ribbed, deeper cap will not fit on the 70-72 wheel.
