super Turbine 300 won't shift

Guy's i left my 67 340 sit for 2 years because the engine blew and after I put a 430 in it won't shift to second unless I put it in low and then shift it to drive. Anyone have an idea what might be going on?

Did you hook up ther line to the vacuum modulator?

3-4 times over the years ive had the hose from the manifold to the modulator tube crack.allways in the back were you cant see it!!

I should have explained more,so I will now. When I was cleaning the car down under I noticed the vacuum line was unhooked and all dirty on the end of the hose and where it should have been hooked. The way it looked to me it hasn't been hooked up since I have had the car. I have run it hooked up and unhooked with no change. The car does shift back to low when I stop, but that is the only shift it makes on its own. The fluid is good, I changed it and have it filled.
One other problem has come up. I put a stage 1 fuelpump on. Blocked the return on it because the car doesn't have a return line and I have to prime the carb to start the car the next day. Do I need to hook the the return to one of the vent lines?

I'd replace that modulator line since it was plugged it could still have something in it blocking the vacuum signal. Also you could remove the modulator and be sure that is clean and not blocked but I am not sure what you should be careful doing that but also suggest you invest in a Haynes manual or similar. By the way how does that 430 run in that light car?! Does it have posi? THX.

It does't have a posi. Since i posted this I have found my fuel problem. When replacing the trunk pan I cut a hole in the fuel line. I found it after putting an electric fuel pump in. It runs pretty good but I am expecting better now that the fuel problem is solved. Is anything going to fly out when the modulator comes off?
