    1971 Buick LeSabre Custom Convertible

Hi I am new to the forum and looking to purchase my first Buick. I think they are all beautiful cars. I am looking to purchase this car for $4k. I am going to look at it this weekend. What should I look for? Is it worth it. Claims to have 55K miles, very orginal and one repaint.

Hi, thanks for the reply but is the anything I should look for...rust, rot, water damage, in any particular part of the car?

Pull the trunk mat up and look for rust in the floor pan and at the rear Quarter panels ( lower parts ) . Rust around window moldings ( may look like bubbles in the paint ) . Drive the car and get to operating temp. and check for excessive smoke out the exhaust . HTH
Still looks good ..O.K. good deal ! HTH

Thanks for the heads up about the rust in the trunk, I almost forgot. Could you also tell me the location of the VIN # and any tags which might help me identify the originality of the car?

the VIN tag should be in the dash, drivers side. you'll normally have to stand outside the car and look in the lower drivers side corner of the windshield to read it.

the Trim Tag should be on the firewall behind the engine. mounted high and towards the middle.

engine code should be stamped on the deck of the block between the #1 and #3 spark plugs. you'll likely need to clean oil and dirt before you can read it.
