    Exclamation Red battery connector

I have a 95 buick regal and the battery light came on. The red rubber of the connecting cable appears to have been worn or dissolved off. Can this cable be disconnected and changed? Any help is apperciated. When I attempt to start it struggles to turn and doesn't make the connection.
    The battery is new

Need more info. are you asking about the pos. battery cable at the battery ? Was your battery leaking at the pos. end and the battery cable end are damaged ? If yes , then you will need to replace the battery cables because the leak is battery acid and will run down the cable to the starter and will damage the connector .H.T.H.

I would start by replacing both of the battery cables, the corrosion is more than likely not allowing your new battery to get the juice to the starter. The inulator boot you refer to I'm assuming is the one that covers the ring terminal the goes onto the charge post of the alternator. This will not effect starting, but it would be a good idea to cut off the coroded ring terminal and crimp on a new ring terminal, a simple yellow crimp on piece is fine, you don't have to worry about an insulator boot for it, that is only in place to prevent shorting it out while working on the vehicle. Just be mindfull of it and you will be fine.
