Thread: help with my 69 skylark custom

Question Hood scoop Q's for my 69 skylark

my 69 skylark has a hood scoop on it that looks like it would be factory, but i can't find any of the trim pieces for it. i haven't seen this scoop on any other buicks, or any cars for that matter. maybe somebody can help me with that. it's chrome, or polished steel, and it's all the way at the rear of the hood, forcing air down into the heater/ air ducts, but it's missing the trim pieces that go with it. they are supposed to go from the scoop, down the hood, to the front nose of the hood. i don't have any pix of it yet to explain it better, but would like some input from anyone.

    thanks,

    james

    Exclamation ok, i've seen it!!

i have seen the same hood scoop with trim on a couple of 68 GS400's
so, maybe my hood is off a 68 GS400, and not the stock 69 skylark.
    hmmm. what's a GS400 worth now anyways?

here are some links to what i mean:

Yes, the hoods with the scoop in the rear is 68 only, the hood that belongs on your car looks like the attached file. so either its a 68 mistaken for a 69 or you got yourself a 68 gs hood on your 69

as far as trim, ive seen it on ebay..not to often for the 68, but theres always hood trim for the 69 style. I would look on ebay, and maybe original parts group and even year one.

    good luck with it

    Cool thanks

thanks there. it is a 69 skylark custom with a 68 gs hood.
i'd hate to change it back untill i get it repainted, but i would like to get the right hood for it so i can swap them out when i paint it.

    thanks again,

    james
