I am trying to get my old buick running correctly! I have the 1961 364 low compression/regular gas option engine that originally came with a 2 bbl carb and intake?
Besides adding a 4bbl carb, what if any easy/ not too involved modifications can I do to increase the performance of this engine?
Carb sugestions?
Cam?
Rockers?
dual exhaust?
Any sugestions ASAP would be greatly appreciated!
For what it's worth, my suggestions would follow an order similar to:
Make sure the engine is in good condition first! Do a compression test!
You already mentioned the 4 bbl, and it is a good start. OE is the best, other wise most would suggest something like a Carter 625 cfm. There is carb help in the reference section of this site.
Then I would move to the distributor, wires, coil, and plug gaps. There is some info on that in the reference area too.
Then, follow that up with a good dual exhaust. 2.5 inch, with crossover.
Then if you wish, you can start on the iternals of the engine, like a cam, etc.
