Have a good week racing. Can't make it this year. In the middle of a move to East TN. 2015 for sure though. Was nice meeting you guys last August on the salt.

We have found that laying down a thin layer of oil in the exhaust header actually reduces friction, allowing for the more rapid expelling of exhaust gasses. At least that is what we tell people about our Great Race Buick

Best wishes to you all. Pat and I wish we could be there.

I agree. There should be more action on this thread but that's not the case. My thinking is parts availability. Starting with rebuilt kits. Nothing worth spending the money in my opinion, and if it lands in quality, chances are the price is up there. Now lets talk speed equipment, not much if at that is available. Howard made a 5x2 for the 263 and a 6x2 for the 320. Those run an arm n a leg if you find one. Edmunds put out a 2x2 but the factory unit does better in performance. Mallory made a dual point magspark distributor. Hard too find as well and not inexpensive. So it crossed my mind, its been too long, and one of the contributors too the lack of threads. I decided to start my own company and put out speed equipment for the 263 as well as the 320. I made up my mind this past fourth of july to begging the process and start the company. I wanted to start with a finned valve cover, but during a halt I had to keep moving and decided on starting the intake. I went for the 263 since that's what I drive, and decided to make it a 4 x 2 with each carb sitting over a riser. Since im new at luminum casting and lacked wood working tools it has taken me a bit longer than expected, but the good news is, that im almost finished both with the pattern and building my melting furnace.i shall be ready to start the pouring a month from now.https://m.facebook.com/322.special/a...kmarksI've included a link too my Facebook profile wich shows the WIP of the intake. I stoped at the detailing stage to start on the furnace. Everything else is in place, bought the fine sand, core binder and all the supplys, just waiting on me pretty much.I'll keep this thread posted as I progress.

The mining company has removed most of the salt from the Salt Flats and the BLM has allowed it to happen. We haven't been able to run on the Salt all year and last year was a rainout. The future of racing on the Salt Flats looks pretty grimm at the moment. The Save The Salt movement needs all of the help that they can get. Check it out at www.savethesalt.org [At least I think that's the address]. At any rate we haven't been able to run the car so we haven't done any updates to it of significance. Doug

I am out here with my straight 8!

    Hi
Saw your post and I agree it would be nice to hear from other straight 8 owners
Mine is in a 1953 Special and is a 263
This fall I will take the head off and have a valve job done on it and have the exhaust manifold milled a bit since I am having an exhaust leak and the rear of the engine and it is driving me nuts.

Anybody have a good idea on the best exhaust gasket from the heat riser section to the exhaust pipe?
I am not sure what is supposed to be there and can not find a good picture of what is supposed to be there?

    Hope the manifold goes well.

I do have a 2 x 2 intake with carbs and a split exhaust manifolds Haven't decided If I am going to put them on or not
    yet?
