1970 Buick GS Stage 1 GSX Carburetor Original

There is an auction on eBay for a 1970 Buick GS Stage 1 Carburetor. The number 7040246 is correct and the date is LK 1929 which I understand to be the 192nd day of 1969 which would be July 11, 1969 which is earlier than the early 1970 Stage 1. So this seems OK.

I have a 7041242 which is correct for a 1971 Stage 1. The date is confusing because it is MD 1509 which would be the 150th day of 1969 or May 30, 1969. So if my calculations are correct, why would a 1971 have a 1969 date on it??

Anyone know what the LK in the first example and the MD in the second means?

    Stage 1 Carb

The LK and MD are manufacturer codes - Production Plant (no knowledge what they are).
You are correct on both your date code breakdowns - it would appear that a '71 Stage 1 car used 7041242 carbs that were manufactured on the 150th day of '69 !
