Fuel Pump Problem 1989 Buick Lesabre

Well, I found the culprit. It is the fuel pump. When I turn the key to the on position, the fuel pump does not run. When I turn it over, it fires for just a second, but won't stay running. Then, after trying to turn it over and not starting, you can hear the fuel pump run for a bit. Any tips on getting the beast running, so I can drive it to the shop to have the fuel pump replaced?

There is a jumper connector for the fuel pump taped to the wiring harness on the dr. side , it is a single red wire and black plug with a flat spade terminal and you and use a fused jumper wire to apply battery voltage to the fuel pump (This is the test connector from the factory ) the fuel pump should run if not take a rubber hammer and tap the center of the fuel tank ( this is where the fuel pump is ) Hope this works , I have done this to get cars in the shop , also the pump will work until you cut the car off so remember to plan your trip.
